Last week, AssetCool joined Yorkshire’s White Rose delegation to India as part of the wider Greater North trade mission, strengthening partner relationships and exploring opportunities to support India’s growing electricity needs.

Led by the Mayors of West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and York & North Yorkshire, the delegation visited Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The programme brought together businesses, universities and cultural organisations to develop trade, investment and partnership opportunities between Yorkshire and India.

For AssetCool, the visit reinforced the significant opportunity to unlock additional capacity from existing overhead transmission infrastructure while reducing electrical losses and improving grid efficiency. Discussions highlighted the potential for AssetCool’s innovative conductor coating technology, supported by strategic local partnerships and complementary solutions, to contribute meaningfully to India’s evolving grid infrastructure, capacity enhancement and energy transition ambitions.

A key takeaway was the importance of aligning proven technology with strong local partnerships, robust technical validation and practical delivery capabilities. Discussions reinforced the need to establish clear technical and commercial foundations to translate promising engagements into tangible, commercially viable projects.

With the UK–India Free Trade Agreement now in force, the mission also underlined the potential for closer collaboration on grid enhancement and low-carbon technologies.

“The openness and constructive engagement of our partners and hosts reinforced my confidence in what we can achieve together,” said Prashant Julka, VP of Contracts and Strategic Partnerships at AssetCool. “My sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the visit such a valuable opportunity.”

Following the visit, AssetCool identified focused follow-up, potential pilot projects and commercially viable partnerships as priorities for building on the relationships strengthened during the mission. This reflected the wider Great North–India initiative’s emphasis on sustained engagement and long-term commercial opportunities beyond a single visit.
