PHOTONIC COATINGS
SE01: photonic coatings for overhead power lines.
Our SE01 coating focuses simultaneously on solar reflectivity and thermal emissivity, providing passive radiative cooling of overhead lines.
Why choose SE01?
The thermal rating of overhead power lines defines the maximum current a conductor can carry without exceeding temperature and sag limits. Applied at the factory, our coating reduces solar absorption and increases emissivity.

SE01 passively lowers conductor temperature by reflecting solar radiation and enhancing radiative heat dissipation. Under comparable operating conditions, this can reduce conductor temperature by up to 25%, enabling up to a 30% increase in ampacity or approximately a 10% reduction in electrical resistance.

The Problem
Utilities are increasing capacity through reconductoring with High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors, which can double current on existing towers. Cooler HTLS operation reduces resistance and losses, delivering required ampacity at lower total cost of ownership.
The Solution
SE01 is a spectrally selective coating that reflects over 80% of sunlight and dissipates heat, lowering conductor temperatures by up to 25%, reducing resistance and transmission losses by up to 10%, or increasing current capacity by up to 30%. Made from inorganic materials, it delivers proven long-term performance.

One Stop Coat
